“Yet to console thee down the ages long,
I name by thee
All that to strength and beauty doth belong;
Thus Truth, Grace, Wisdom, in immortal song,
Shall feminine be.”
~An excerpt from a poem by my Great, Great Grandmother Jessie Kerr Lawson “Lays and Lyrics - “The Evolution of Woman”
I love to get lost in stories of an artists life, their day to day processes as an artist, their brushstrokes and materials used, discovering similarities in my days to their habits, but with that I am especially in love with the inspiration that it can bring to my own art.
The list is long of artists that I am completely obsessed with, one including the great Claude Monet. His art has been on the forefront as of late as I will be seeing his work in person for the first time this Fall at the Denver art Museum. “Truth in Nature” which will include 120 of Claude Monet’s paintings spanning his entire career. To say I’m excited is an understatement. I am sure it will be especially crowded, but I will be soaking in the moment as much as possible regardless.
This piece was meditative in the process and will be inspiration for more to come in the future I am sure.
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! xo
